MTVA, the Hungarian national broadcaster has released the 30 songs that will compete at the 2013 Hungarian national selection A Dal.

A total of 30 songs will compete at the 2013 Hungarian national selection A Dal, which will consist  of a total of 6 shows (3 heats, 2 semi-finals and the grand final). The heats are scheduled to be held on 2,9 and 16 February, whilst the semi-finals are scheduled for the 23 and 24 of February. The grand finale will take place on 2 March.

In the three heats, a total of 30 songs will compete, 10 in each heat. The special panel of judges which consisting of  five people will choose three out of the ten songs. Then the  public will get the chance to vote for their favourite songs, hence they will choose three more songs out  of the remaining seven songs. Therefore,a total of 18 songs will proceed to the semi-finals..A total of 9 songs will  compete in each semifinal, 4 entries will qualify for the final ( 2 via jury deliberation/ 2 via public televoting). Hence a total  of  8 songs will compete in the grand final., where the jury will shorlist the songs from 8 to 4  and the public will decide the winner via televoting.

Hungary debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 with Frederika Bayer, and is yet to win the event. The country’s best placing at the contest was when they debuted in 1994 with Frederika’s Kinek mondjam el vétkeimet?, placing 4th.
