Cyprus: Ten participants make it to the next phase

The Eurochallenge#1 of the Cypriot 2015 Eurovision Song Project concluded with ten artists qualified for the 2nd Eurochallenge, scheduled for next week.

After making it through the auditions of the 2015 Eurovision Song Project, the twenty candidates seeking to represent Cyprus this year in Vienna met in the first Eurochallenge. The artists performed the entries that they wish to defend at the Eurovision Song Contest before Alex Panayi, Tasos Tryfonos, Despina Olympiou and Elena Patroklou; the four were joined in the jury tasked with selecting the ten best entries by the Swedish Head of Delegation Christer Björkman and the producer and composer Dimitris Kontopoulos.

After each performance the jury members made their comments and remarks to the singers. With the twenty entries heard and reviewed, and the jury deliberation, the jury revealed the ones that they had chosen for the next phase:

These ten will be performing again in the next and last Eurochallenge that will be broadcast on Friday 24 January. Six performers will be chosen then by the jury for the Grand Final that is to take place on Sunday 1 February 2015 and which will be broadcast live on RIK 1 and RIK Sat (Hotbird) and streamed live on the CyBC website and eurovision.tv.

Among one of these ten artists could be the first winner for the island, as Cyprus has not ended first so far in the Eurovision Song Contest. Its first participation was in 1981, and the best result to date has been a 5th place in three occasions.
