Albania: RTSH receives around 50 entries for Festivali i Këngës

RTSH, the Albanian national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that it has received  around 50 entries for the  2015 Albanian Eurovision national selection – 53 Festival i Kenges .

RTSH has told  ESCToday that it is currently evaulating various options and formats for the forthcoming Festival I Kenges. The Albanian broadcaster has also confirmed to ESCToday that it has received around 50 entries and that RTSH will  select between 24-28 entries for the Albanian song festival. RTSH will be releasing the rules and regulations for the forthcoming 2015 Albanian national selection in due course.

More details regarding the Albanian song festival: hosts, participants, song titles, the national selection format are expected to be released soon. The 2015 Albanian entry and act is expected to be selected via jury deliberation.

Albania will select its Eurovision entry and act via Festival I Kenges if the country is to participate at next year’s contest. The forthcoming edition of the Albanian song festival is scheduled to be held in Tirana on 26, 27, 28 December. The winner of the 53rd edition of Festival I Kenges will represent Albania at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna.  The 2015 Albanian Eurovision entry and representative will be revealed on 28 December.

In 2014 Albania selected its Eurovision entry and act via Festival I KengesHersi won the golden ticket to Copenhagen with her entry One Night’s Anger, despite an energetic performance she failed to qualify to the grand final.

Albania debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 with Anjeza Shahini. The country is yet to win the competition. Albania achieved its best placing in the contest in 2012 with Rona Nishliu’s Suus.

The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 19, 21 and 23 May at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria.
