The Swedish/Danish music festival Öresund Festival takes place May 10-11, 2013 at 5 different music venues in Malmö. The festival presents Swedish and Danish bands with a line-up including everything from the new stars of tomorrow to known and well established bands.

The buzz about Scandinavian music is reaching new levels these years. Öreund Festival is your chance to meet the Swedish and Danish bands in Malmö.

Two days with the cool sound of Scandinavia

Öresund Festival is a new annual music festival where music lovers, bands and music industry players from The Oresund Region get the chance to meet in Malmö. Through two days this venue based music festival offers a sublime line-up of Danish and Swedish bands and is a first of its kind. The festival, that takes place Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11, 2013, is a unique opportunity to get close to the cool sound of Scandinavia.

A powerful music scene

The Oresund Region is home to a powerful and successful music scene. A music scene that is developing rapidly these years. The main focus for Öresund Festival is to present Swedish and Danish bands and bring together the music industry from both countries in Malmö.

For the second year running Malmö becomes a musical hotspot during the two festival days with more than 40 concerts at 5 different venues. All acts presented at the festival are Swedish and Danish bands based in the Oresund Region, and the line-up ranges from the up and coming stars of tomorrow to known and well established bands with a big fan base.

With a population of almost 4 million people and with two big cities within two countries the Oresund Region is an extraordinary cultural hub. Each country has its own sounds and vibes and still it only takes a music lover 35 minutes to travel between the two cities to catch a show or meet people with mutual music taste.

The Oresund Region consists of Southern Sweden and Eastern Denmark. It is one of the most dynamic Regions in Europe. The two sides of the Region are connected by a fixed link — The Oresund Bridge — between Copenhagen and Malmö.

9 participants have created the festival line-up

Öresund Festival’s program is curated by 9 leading music festivals and music venues from the Region. With a good portion of know-how from both of the countries these 9 participants have created a strong festival line-up. The booking group this year is represented by: Roskilde Festival (DK), Strøm Festival (DK), Vega (DK), Amager Bio / BETA2300 (DK), Rust (DK), Debaser (SE), Kulturbolaget (SE), Far i Hatten (SE) and Babel (SE).

By inviting different and independent participants to the co-creation of the festival’s program, Öresund Festival is now building a special platform for networking and knowledge sharing between key players from the music industry in both countries.

»The Oresund Region is really unique when it comes to music. The level of quality is international and still we have our own thing going on here. We can easily travel between the two countries to learn more from each other and get to know new music. Last year was our premiere. This year we are really excited to return with the festival, new bands and new special events«, says Nicklas Johansson, General Manager of Öresund Festival.

All venues are located around ‘Folkets Park’ in Malmö and can be reached by foot. Find out about the full festival line-up and venue information on the website www.oresundsfestival.com or on facebook: www.facebook.com/oresundsfestival
