CyBC celebrates from 1st September till 22nd October

Cypriot broadcaster CyBC will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest with 52 short programs. Those will be aired daily from 1st September till 22nd October, the day of the 50th anniversary show Congratulations in Copenhagen.

Each of the 52 programs, of which the first one will be aired on 1st September, will last 5 minutes. Presenter Vaso Komninou will be commenting two old Eurovision Song Contest entries daily and introduce old archive images from the previous 50 years. The last of 52 programs will go on air on 22nd October. The short programs will be broadcast by CyBC 1 and repeated several times a day.

Cyprus has been participating in the Eurovision Song Contest since 1981. Its best results were three 5th places, reached by Anna Vissi in 1982, Chara & Andreas Konstantinou in 1997 and Lisa Andreas in 2004. This year's representative Constantinos Christoforou is the Cypriot record holder with three participations: solo with Mona gia mas in 1996, with Ela ela in 2005 and as lead singer of the boyband One with Gimme in 2002.

CyBC is one of the 30 broadcasters that have subscribed for broadcasting Congratulations, the special Eurovision Song Contest 50th anniversary television show, organized by Danish broadcaster DR on behalf of the European Broadcasting Union.
