The Malta Song for Europe semi final will be held on February 1st in the new conference center at Ta Qali. It will be hosted by Stefanie Spiteri and J. Anvil, singer and presenter.
Some important changes have been announced by the Board of Maltasong duringthe Press Conference held today at the Golden Tulip Vivaldi Hotel. First, the lines for the televoting will remain open for half an hour for both the semi final and the final.Only 1call can be made by a single number, as opposed to the3 calls per number restriction that applied so far. To ensure that the jury will not be influenced by the reactions of the audience to any song, they will watch the show from another room, through a television screen. Another possible reason for that is that the Eurovision Contest is mainly a television show, watching it actually on television will help them with their decision.
The televotes as well as the jury votes will be given in the well known Eurovision Song Contest style ( 1-8, 10, 12). In order not to influence the result of the final, the actual number of votes received by each of the six winners will not be revealed until after the final which will be held on 3rd February.
The opening and interval acts of the semi final will be performed by the YADA dance company. Fabrizio Faniello will open the final and Ruslana will perform during the interval of the final.
The running order is as follows:
