The 5th of March is the date of the Austrian preselection to the Eurovision Song Contest, titled song.null.vier. Boris Urban and Oliver Auspitz (photo) are the hosts. The show will be aired on ORF 1 from 21:15 CET.

Like in the previous year, the final consists of 10 participants, the winner is going to be decided solely by televoting. Nine of the 10 combattants will be sent by Austrian record companies, while one slot is reserved for a singer or a band without a record deal. This “wild card” will be given by an ORF jury, selecting from applicants who sent their entry before 2nd February. A certain stage expierence is assumed, and no entry will be allowed that could “bring the Eurovision Song Contest to disrepute”. Still no names of possible participants of song.null.vier are mentioned.

Host Boris Urban is experienced with song contests; in 2002 he scored a third place in the first edition of Starmania, a very popular Austrian casting show. Due to Alf Poier's good result, Austria is going to perform in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest on 15th May.
