Adults wrote songs for Danish Junior final

This week it appeared that some in the Danish national final for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, the MGP Junior, have been written by adults. According to the rules, only a little help from adults is allowed, which definitely does not mean that a majority of the song can be written by an adult.

The Danish broadcaster DR admitted the story in a press release, which was released yesterday. According to the Danish newspaper Politiken the Danish artist Søren Poppe, amongst others (one half of Rollo & King), wrote a song for MGP Junior.

DR found out something was wrong when the names on the subscribtion forms were compared with the information at KODA, the Danish songwriter's association. It appeared that a substantial part of the fee – the Junior-cd did very well in the Danish stores – went to professional musicians, and not to the kids.

According to Politiken at least one of the 16 songs at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest written and/or composed by professional musicians. Meanwhile, DR announced to take a close look on the rules hoping that changes will affect the European edition too.

The first edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest is about to take place; exactly one week to go before the show will be aired for the very first time. Taking this into consideration, the story comes up at a very unlucky moment…
