Ruslana in Romania

Ruslana, the winner of the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest, was invited by the mayor of Craiova to perform at town's day. Ruslana is currently working on her Wild Energy project which includes new songs, some written and composed within her family, and new video clips. esctoday.com was there and we spoke to the Ukrainian artist.

Ruslana spent 2 days in Craiova, Romania to perform at town's day. The concert was a great success, the artist being received extremely well by the audience. Between rehearsals, Ruslana took some time off to talk to esctoday.com about her Wild Energy project, her forthcoming album and her views on the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest.

Ruslana kicked off the interview by telling us a bit more about her Wild Energy project: "We're trying to build a new energy generation using the book Wild Energy- Lana. This new project meansa new album, new videoclips, new songs. We have already shot two video clips. One for Amazon and one for Wild Energy-Find It. Butright now, I can't perform songs from my new album. Everytime I have a concert I talk to my producers and they say all the time:Wait for next year".

Ruslana's new album will be released next year in Eastern Europe, China and in many other countries. It will contain new songs as well as some exotic ones like Chardash which was composed by Ruslana herself and penned by her husband. This song will have a English version and of course a Ukrainian version.

The conversation then turned to the Eurovision Song Contest naturally. Ruslana was one of the millions of viewers and she loved it. What did she think about Verka Serduchka and Lasha tumbai? "Lasha tumbai' not 'Russia good bye' she laughs I liked it. He is a great artist. I respect him. He is my best friend!"

And what about this year'swinning song? "I liked it a lot.Marija is a very professional singer. Before the contest I talked with one of my friends from Serbia and I told them that this is your chance. Go for it!"

Ruslana admitted that she loves Romania: "It has almost the same traditions as Ukraine. I have been here before at the New Year Concert whenMr Traian Basescu, the president of Romania, invited me to sing. Congratulations once again on joining the European Union!"

Ruslana had to run off to another rehearsal so she closed this short interview with a message to her fans "Thank you! I love you all!"
