For the third time in history, the Eurovision Song Contest will have its very own mascot! After the Eurocat in 1990 and the Eurobird in 1992, Greek broadcaster ERT is now preparing a butterfly!

“The mascot for the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest is a butterfly, who's body will be a microphone and its feathers will carry the colours of the 2006 contest”, an ERT spokesperson said to Oikotimes.com.

The proposal to design a mascot for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest was launched by fans last year, late summer.

More details about the mascot are to be launched soon! It's not unlikely the Reference Group will have to approve the design before images will be send out to the press.
