NTU, the Ukrainian national broadcaster has informed Esctoday.com that it is most likely that Ukraine will compete at the forthcoming 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö next May. An official confirmation regarding Ukraine’s participation at the Eurovision Song Contest is expected in due course.
The method and mechanism that NTU will opt for in order to select both their Eurovision 2013 entry and representative is yet to be decided. An official confirmation regarding Ukraine’s participation at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest along with the rules and regulations regarding their method of selection are expected to be released soon.
Ukraine debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2003 with Oleksander Ponomaryov’s Hasta la vista. The country won the competition with their 2nd Eurovision attempt in 2004 when Ruslana gave Ukraine its very first Eurovision triumph withWild Dances, hence bringing the song contest to Kiev in 2005. Ukraine has been competing in the Eurovision Song Contest every year since 2003 and has competed every year in the final since 2004, when the semifinal system was introduced.
