TVE, the Spanish national broadcaster, has officially announced the rules and regulations for the forthcoming Spanish Eurovision national final selection. Singers and composers are invited to submit their applications from the 15th of November until the 12th of December. 2 auditions will be held, where a group of experts will choose the best candidates.

As already announced, there are two ways to apply for the Spanish selection: as a singer or as a composer.

All those wishing to enter the Spanish selection for Eurovision 2011 as singers have two ways to do so: via internet on the TVE Eurovision website or attending live auditions in Madrid and Barcelona by the end of November. The best candidates will be preselected by an experts committee. The lucky singers to pass this stage will go through a second casting, where the qualifiers for the televised stage will be decided. Hopefuls will have to sing an Eurovision song. Applicants must be of Spanish nationality or legal residence.

In the case of composers, they may submit their entries via the TVE Eurovision platform only. The panel of experts will choose the best materials as well in order to "seek the best representative and song possible". No restrictions as to the language of the songs have been made.

Both singers and songwriters can apply for the 2011 Eurovision selection from the 15th of November to the 12th of December.

UPDATE

Unlike in previous years, the names of the candidates and the songs will not be made public before the semifinals start.

TVE will air a series of tv shows from January to choose the artist and song to represent Spain in 2011. The voting method to be used is a combination of jury vote and televote at a 50/50 split.

It is also possible that some established singers will be invited to participate in the process as wildcards, just like in other European preselections such as Melodifestivalen or EMA. They would automatically qualify for the televised shows.
