Latvian media about Eurovision Song Contest

More that 1000 accredited foreign journalists are bringing the news about the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 from Riga, Latvia to the world . The Latvian media is doing its best to reflect the events.

The two biggest Latvian daily newspapers Diena and Neatkariga rita avize write about the arrival, the rehearsal and the press conference of the Russian entrants. As well the newspapers point out the work of Latvia State Police. Extra police forces have been involved to provide the security during the so called Euroweek.

Latvian Broadcaster (LTV) has a daily program Eirovizija 2003 which covers the most important issues of the Eurovision like contestants, preparation, stage as well as social and cultural program during the ESC week.

Two Latvian radio stations, the state radio Latvijas radio 2 and the commercial station Radio Skonto are playing an entry of ESC 2003 each and every hour. Several websites offer different news concerning the contest, for instance, that the Eurovision will be guarded not only by policemen but also by dogs and beavers. It is still not known if and how the help of the last mentioned animals will be taken into action.

More than 100 Latvian journalists are working at the press centre to provide the people of the host country with the news about the ESC 2003.
