LRT, the Lithuanian national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that Lithuania intends to participate at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest in Ukraine next year.

It is more than likely that Lithuania will opt for a national selection in order to select its Eurovision  song and act for Ukraine. There maybe a few changes in the forthcoming Lithuanian national selection. More details and information regarding the 2017 Lithuanian Eurovision project  will be released in due course.

Thus Lithuania joins Cyprus, Latvia, Portugal, Slovenia, Armenia, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Switzerland, France, Germany, Ukraine, The Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland and Estonia all whom have confirmed their intention to participate at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Ukraine.

The official list of participating countries at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest is expected to be released by the EBU by late December 2016/early January 2017.

In 2016 Donny Montell won the Lithuanian Eurovision national selection and defended his country at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm with his entry I’ve been waiting for this night, achieving an honorable 9th place in the Grand Final.

Lithuania debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 and is yet to win the competition. The country achieved its best placing in the contest in 2006 with LT United.

The preliminary dates for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest have been set on 9, 11 and 13 May.
