Tonight the Latvian national broadcaster, LTV, will air the final of the Latvian national selection Dziesma 2014 which will take place at the Juras Varti Theatre House in Ventspils. 12 acts will battle for the right to represent Latvia at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest which is being hosted in Copenhagen.
The show
Tonight, both Ēriks Loks and Nauris Brikmanis will host the final of the Latvia national selection Dziesma 2014. The 12 finalists will perform their entries where a public/jury deliberation will determine which of the 3 finalists will qualify to the super final. The 3 super-finalists will then perform their entries again where a deliberation will once again take place, eventually deciding who will represent Latvia at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest.

Guest performers
A number of artists will perform at the national selection, all of whom originate from each of the 3 Baltic countries. Confirmed artists included the 2003 Latvian representative Lauris Reiniks and singer Normunds Rutulis who will both be presenting their new songs. Fomins & Kleins (Latvia 2004) will also reunite to perform at the selection. Other named artists include PeR (Latvia 2013) who will perform together with Lithuanian singer Jurga Šeduikytė. Tenfold Rabbit, who have previously taken part in the 2012 and 2013 edition of the Estonian national selection Eesti Laul, will also perform in the Latvian national selection.
Latvia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2000 with the song My star performed by the band Brainstorm. They ended in 3rd place with a total of 136 points. Latvia’s best result was in 2002 when Marie N was selected to represent her country in the host city of Tallinn. At the grand final, she received a total of 176 points with her song I wanna, winning the contest and bringing Latvia their first and only victory to date.
Last year, PeR won the Latvian national selection Dziesma 2013 with their song Here we go, earning the right to represent their country at the Eurovision Song Contest in the host city of Malmö. PeR failed to qualify to the grand final, ending in 17th place in their semi-final with a total of 13 points.
