Fantasy United Kingdom!

On the official BBC Making your mind up site, fans can now suggest their top tip for the United Kingdom representative of 2007 in a new interactive poll. Not only that, but as it is fantasy poll, fans can choose anyone – be they young, old, alive or dead!

Will it be Sir Cliff for a third time? Or perhaps the Sugarbabes? Perhaps even Kate Winslet might be your choice to fly the British flag in Helsinki, or Katie Price – aka Jordan – who came second to Javine in the British selection for Kyiv in 2005. Whatever you decide, you can tell the BBC your favourite, and explain your reasons behind the decision. The best (and probably funniest) ones will appear on the official Making your mind up site over the coming weeks.

The BBC will be searching for a strong entry for Helsinki, where the nation will present its cinquantenary Eurovision entry since its debut in 1957 with Patricia Bredin's All. Despite perhaps the most successful record in the contest overall – given five wins and fifteen second places – recent years have seen the United Kingdom slip well down in the rankings, culminating in a last (26th) place in 2003, when Jemini finished at the bottom of the pile after achieving the dreaded nul points. A string of dire rankings since then mean that Brits are in need of a Eurovision boost for Helsinki.

Daz Sampson finished 19th for the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Athens with Teenage life.
