France 3 has launched the plans for the selections of the French representative for the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev. The French broadcaster takes up the challenge to organise a televised selection with 5 participants, to be broadcast live in March.

The production of this selection program is a cooperation between France 3 and Carson Prod. In order to attract singers to participate, France 3 has contacted French record companies. They have been given the time until 31st January to submit songs and to propose singers obeying the Eurovision Song Contest rules as set up by EBU.

France 3 appeals on the record companies in order to make sure that the selected singer can be offered a video clip, a single and a promotion plan according to the demands of the modern Eurovision Song Contest. Nevertheless, independent singers are allowed to submit their participation file too.

France 3 will select the best 5 proposals and will announce them before 7th February. As of this moment, France 3 will follow the developments of these 5 projects. During a live show to be held in March, France 3 together with a professional jury and the French audience will select the French representative for the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest.

According to Bruno Berberes, the French Head of Delegation for Kiev, organising this final is a real challenge for France 3. It's the first time since 2000 that France holds a national final.
