The Belgians chose X!nk to represent their country at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest with the song De vriendschapsband (The tie of friendship). X!ink defeated Tonya, Laura, Remi and Martijn in a final, organised by Flemish broadcaster VRT.

X!nk is a punk band, consisting of two pair of brothers: Jonas and Niels Meukens (13) and Thomas (12) and Philip (10) Valkiers. X!nk received the maximum votes from 4 out of 6 juries.

During the live broadcast of the final, which scored an impressing audience rate of 1.15 million viewers, the kids were awarded a golden record. The Eurosong for kids album with the 10 finalists songs is already good for gold in Belgium after only one week of sales.
