France: Cocktail Chic… alias “Les Fléchettes”

A DVD has just been released in France on 4-members female group Les Fléchettes, who are no one but the same young ladies who represented France in Bergen 1986 and gave France a 17th place. This release is in fact one of the many items commercialized to commemorate Claude François' death, 30 years ago. Les Fléchettes were François' backing singers from the end of the 60's.

The singer, who had his own label (named "Flèche" – "arrow" in English), gave the girls a chance as a band, under the name "Les Fléchettes" ("darts" in English). They recorded three 7" which didn't really impress. No worry, they stuck to Claude François' team and became the most sought-after backing singers in the French show business. They did a great number of Eurovision appearances in the 70's and the 80's.

The just released DVD has many clips taken from TV, interviews of the girls as well as material on the day Claude François accidentally died. It also deals with the career of the women along the 80's and the 90's, when they featured and recorded on famous children TV programmes presented by Dorothée. Not surprisingly, the DVD didn't mention any Eurovision connection, especially not the one on which they felt very much like Européennes (European girls).
