Stockholm Revisited Episode 11: Focus on Dami Im (Australia)

For the past 9 weeks we have been looking back at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm. In the next few weeks, we will focus on the journey of the artists that made it to the top 5. Today it’s all about this year’s runner up and jury vote winner: Dami Im from Australia

Australia was invited to participate for the second time this year after their successful debut last year in Vienna.

The speculation about the Australian artist started early this year until Conchita Wurst announced Dami Im at her concert in Sydney.

Dami Im is born in South Korea but moved to Australia when she was 9 years old. She won the hearts of the Australian audience when she won X-Factor in 2013. Her next goal was to win the hearts of the European audience.

Sound Of Silence was since it’s release always one of the favourites for the Eurovision title but coming closer to the shows Australia was the second favourite to win the contest for the bookies, after Russia.

Unlike the year before, Australia had to qualify trough the Semi-Finals. Dami Im easily qualified and in fact won the second semi-final.

In the Grand Final, Dami Im not only did better then Guy Sebastian in the year before, she won the jury vote and finished at a very respectable second place.
