The Netherlands: Anouk goes Dutch on new intense single and forthcoming album

Dutch rock and soul diva Anouk has unveiled the music video for her Dutch single Het is klaar, in anticipation of the release of her new album Wen d’r maar aan.

Anouk, the queen of Dutch rock music, has proven to be a versatile artist, successfully venturing into different music styles throughout her career. From rock to soul to rap, and of course her dark alternative Eurovision 2013 ballad Birds, Anouk is truely an artistic chameleon. Her latest project Wen d’r maar aan (Get used to it) is Dutch language music, yet she has lost nothing of her fierceness as she shows with her latest music video.

In Het is klaar (It is done or It is finished) Anouk deals with a dysfunctional former relationship, which is explicitly visualized in the volatile music video. We see Anouk and other scorned lovers taking revenge on mean, unfaithful partners. Although the song is in Dutch, the translated lyrics speak clear and loud:

I have had enough of your ugly face
A worthless guy, you are nothing more than that
I know for sure now, you are not the one that I thought you were
Because you have only brought lies
One after the other, nothing more than that
I know for sure now, you are not the man for me

The song is produced by Anouk and Swedish team Martin Gjerstad and Tore Johansson, who have worked with the singer many times before. The music video is by Michael Middelkoop and Czar Amsterdam. The clip includes a host of actors and actresses, including Jamie Grant and Nadja Hüpscher, and presents Stuntteam de Beukelaer.

Het is klaar is featured on Anouk’s forthcoming album Wen d’r maar aan, which will be released on 12 October 2018 and is available for pre-order:

A happy family graces Vogue

Rest asured, Anouk may vent her emotions in song, but privately she is in a very good place, enjoying her loving family. She recently featured on the cover of Vogue Nederland alongside her partner Dominique Schemmekes and her kids:

Anouk at Eurovision 2013

Anouk Teeuwe (The Hague, 1975), one of the most popular and successful female artists of the Netherlands, represented her country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö, Sweden. Departing from her signature rock style, the singer performed the dark ballad Birds in semi-final 1. Anouk not only brought the Netherlands to the Grand Final for the first time since 2004, she also gave the country its first top-10 placing since 1999, earning a respectable 9th place in the final with 114 points.
