RUV, the Iceland national broadcaster has opened the submission period for singers/artists wishing to competing at the forthcoming 2016 Iceland Eurovision national selection Söngvakeppni 2016.
The winner of the 2016 Iceland Eurovision national selection will be awarded 1 million Iceland krona and the golden ticket to represent Iceland at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm next May. Submission period for artists, singers and composers to submit their entries is open until 2 November.
Iceland debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1986 and is yet to win the event. The country nearly touched gold twice in the competition, achieving a 2nd place in 1999 with Selma and in 2009 with Yohanna.
