This year it's up to the French speaking part of Belgium, Wallonia, to submit a song for the Eurovision Song Contest. It can be assumed broadcaster RTBF will submit a French song to Riga.

Eurosong.be reports that the minister of Media of Wallonia made an agreement with RTBF that they have to do everything that's possible to spread the French language and culture. This agreement almost forces RTBF to submit a French song to the Eurovision Song Contest.

Now the end of 2002 is coming closer, it seems more and more clear that the Belgian song and participant will be selected internally.
