Koit Toome, who represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest of 1998, has covered this year’s winning song, Rise like a phoenix by Conchita Wurst from Austria. The singer performed his version of the track in an Estonian TV show.

Koit Toome performed in a show that was broadcasted by the Estonian broadcaster ETV. The singer translated Conchita’s winning song to Estonian and named it Tousen kui fööniks. He performed the track in an acoustic version, together with a guitarist. This performance shows that Toome is still interested in the Eurovision Song Contest after participating once back in 1998.

He represented Estonia in the contest in Birmingham with the song Mere lapsed. He finished in 12th position with 36 points. Toome tried to represent his country once more when he participated in Euro Laul, the Estonian preselection for Eurovision, in 2007. His song Veidi veel did not qualify for the super final and thus did not win the competition.
