Suspilne, the Ukrainian national broadcaster, has received a total of 217 entries for Vidbir 2027.

Ukraine has kicked off preparations for Eurovision 2027, with its search for the Vidbir 2027 competing acts. The winner of Vidbir 2027 will represent Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 in Burgas.

Suspilne received a total of 217 entries for Vidbir 2027, out of which 153 are solo artists and 48 are groups. Eight of the applicants have already partaken in the Ukrainian national selection before. The applications were submitted not from Ukraine but also from the Netherlands, Czechia, UK and Norway.

Now Suspilne will shortlist the applicants to a long-list of acts, who will have to undergo an audition in order to qualify for the Ukrainian national final.

The 2027 Ukrainian Eurovision act and entry will be determined via a combined public voting/jury deliberation in February.

Oksana Skybinska ( Ukrainian Head of Delegation) says:

We are grateful to the artists who, even in the darkest times, create quality music and strive to become the voice of Ukraine on the big international stage. This National Selection will open up new names for Ukrainians and will become a new page in the musical biography of already familiar artists. Applications are still being processed, but there is already a feeling that the longlist will need to be expanded so that more diverse Ukrainian songs can be heard first at the auditions and then in the playlists of Ukrainians,”

Ukraine in Eurovision

Ukraine debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2003 with Oleksandr Ponormayov‘s Hasta la vista, and has won the competition thrice in 2004 (Ruslana), 2016 (Jamala) and 2022 (Kalush Orchestra). The country has hosted the contest twice in its majestic capital Kyiv in 2005 and 2017.

Ukraine is one of the most successful countries in the Eurovision Song Contest and has so far not missed out competing in the Grand Final. The Eastern European nation has competed in Europe’s favourite television show every year since its debut with the exception of 2015 and 2019 when the country withdrew from the competition.

The Ukrainians have made it 15 times in the top 10 of the leader board in their 21 ESC participations, including 3 victories ( 2004, 2016, 2022), 2 2nd placings (2007, 2008), 2  3rd placings (2013, 2024) 1 4th placing (2011) and a 5th placing (2021).

In 2026 LELEKA represented Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna with her entry ‘Ridnym‘ achieving an honourable 9th place in the Grand Final.
