The hosts of the Eurovision Song Contest have for years been a big point of interest for the fans of the contest. The auditioning and decision process takes months and those given the prestigious job will be announced closer to the date. The speculation is as usual running wild in the Swedish media already.

According to the Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet, the Swedish broadcaster SVT is now following leads for possible presenters for both the Swedish national final Melodifestivalen, and the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö. The paper quotes executive producer Christer Björkman in stating that they want to have different people for these jobs to get greater variety. The search is apparently now extended even past regular SVT presenters across to other channels and even across the Atlantic, to Hollywood.

Several Swedish actors have made it big in Hollywood in recent years, and Aftonbladet reports that according to Christer Björkman people like multilingual ex-Bond girl Izabella Scorupco would be considered for the jobs. Other Swedish actors in Hollywood are Stellan and Alexander Skarsgård, Lena Olin, Malin Åkerman and Peter Stormare. Aftonbladet mentions even Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen in their article. Christer Björkman is reported to have said it can be a hit and miss, whether a film actor can be right for a live TV show, but that they are definitely looking into that option too.

Some names that have already made their names as popular presenters on SVT programs have been speculated, like Sarah Dawn Finer, Gina Dirawi, Måns Zelmerlöw and Malin Olsson as well as former Melodifestivalen host Kristian Luuk. From other channels it is said SVT are interested in names like the comedy duo Filip & Fredrik and Carina Berg, but they might not be available as they are contracted to other channels, according to Aftonbladet.

The other Swedish tabloid Expressen has added singer Eric Saade (Sweden 2011) to the list of potential names to host Melodifestivalen in 2013.

Melodifestivalen 2013 will start in February and finish in March at the brand new Friends Arena in Stockholm. Eurovision Song Contest 2013 will be in Malmö in May. SVT will announce their decisions on the hosts for both shows in due course and we will of course tell you about it on esctoday.com as soon as we have the information.
