While the problems with the televote Wednesday didn't change who made the final, most agree it still shouldn't have happened. The EBU and Digame both issued press releases today, to address what happened Wednesday and what they will do to ensure nothing goes wrong tonight.

The top 10 didn't change, but until we know the scores from Wednesday's qualifier round we won't know how close the 10th qualifier and the 11th place finishers (Israel and Estonia, 57 points) were. In separate press releases the EBU and Digame (who coordinate the televote across Europe, in cooperation with local telephone service providers) both addressed last Wednesday's problems and what they are doing to make sure it doesn't happen tonight.

Digame's internal system caught errors in both the Monaco phone in and Croatia's SMS-based vote. Digame also thanked “all the broadcasters for their cooperation and especially Croatia and Monaco for their quick reaction”. They also “have accomplished the necessary additonal programming” of their special software, to ensure that any errors are caught immediately.

Meanwhile the EBU confirmed that Ernst and Young (an outside accounting firm) audit results. Ruurd Bierman, Chair of the EBU Reference Group, verified that “the televoting sysmte, developed by Digame, was designed to ensure transparency and reliability”. Svante Stockelius said he “felt confident that the problems with the televoting system would be corrected for the final”.

During the results portion of today's final dress rehearsal, the on-air and technical crew had to respond to discrepancies between the numbers given to Mr. Stockelius and what the on-air spokesperson for each country read out In the event of a discrepancy, the EBU stops the results reporting on air, instructs the country in question to check its results and “we will come back to you”.
