More results in the 2007 esctoday.com awards are announced: Let's see who won in the categories Composer of the year and Lyricist of the year.

Composer of the year

  1. Magdi Rúzsa for the Hungarian entry Unsubstantial blues
  2. Vladimir Graić for the Serbian entry Molitva
  3. Thomas G:Son for the Spanish entry I love you mi vida and the Norwegian entry Ven a bailar conmigo
  4. Beqa Jafaridze for the Georgian entry Visionary dream
  5. Andrej Babić for the Slovene entry Cvet z juga

The voting in this category was very close and saw Magdi Rúzsa from Hungary winning with25.6%,only one pointahead of Vladimir Graic from Serbia, who composed the winning song of the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest and got 25.4%. Thomas G:Son, the only composer who had two songs in the running, finished third (19.9%) with his classic Europop entries although both his Spanish and his Norwegian entry were not very successful in the Eurovision Song Contest, they are still popular with the fans. Beqa Jafaridze from debuting country Georgia came fourth with his rather complex composition gaining 16.2%. Andrej Babić surprisingly only finished fifth with his operatic Slovene entry Cvet z juga13.0%)that was a favourite in many fan polls before and after the contest.

After Zeljko Joksimovic won last year with Lejla, for the second year running, the Composer of the year award goes to the writer of a ballad while it’s the first time that a singer-songwriter wins. Furthermore, Magdi Rúzsa has earlier won the “official” Best composer ward of the Eurovision Song Contest. On a sidenote, she was one of only three female composers in the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest.

Lyricist of the year

  1. Saša Milošević Mare for the Serbian entry Molitva
  2. Peter Fenner for the Icelandic entry Valentine lost
  3. Aleksandra Milutinović for the Bosnian entry Rijek bez imema
  4. Julija Ritčik for the Lithuanian entry Love or leave
  5. Kobi Oz for the Israeli entry Push the button

Saša Milošević Mare, lyricist of this year’s winning song Molitva was the clear winner in this poll with 33.1% ahead of the runner-up, Peter Fenner from Iceland with the song Valentine lost that brought him 21.3%. In third place with 20.3% follows Aleksandra Milutinović from Bosnia & Herzegovina with the second song in a Slavic language nominated. Julija Ritčik finished fourth with 13.6% for Love or leave while Kobi Oz’ controversial and multilingual entry Push the button was not so popular gaining 11.8% of the votes.
