Gianluca Grignani

Sogni infranti

Ginaluca is an Italian singer, songwriter and guitarist with ten studio albums to his name. And five Sanremo Festivals under his belt.

His first appearance in the contest was back in 1995 when he participated with the song Destinazione paradiso, as part of the newcomers’ category. He finished in sixth place, but its success both in Italy and abroad helped launch his career, and the song was soon released in a Spanish-language version, and later covered by Laura Pausini.

Four years on. In 1999, Gianluca took part in the Sanremo Festival again. This time in the ‘Big Artists’ category, where he finished in thirteenth place with the song Il giorno perfetto. Three more appearances at Sanremo soon followed; a twelfth place finish in 2002, an entry that failed to make the final in 2006, and, most recently, a sixth place finish in 2008 with the song Cammina nel sole, his most successful position to date.

In the years since then Gianluca has released three more albums, appeared as a judge and tutor on the Italian TV show, Star Academy, and written material for other artists, including Jessica Mazzoli, who finished in fourth place in the Italian X Factor 2011. His song, La fabbrica di plastica was voted by readers of Rolling Stone magazine as the song that best represents Italian rock-music.

Gianluca Grignani will participate in the 65th edition of the Sanremo Music Festival this coming February with the song, Sogni infranti.
