Romania: TVR confirms participation in Eurovision 2015

TVR, the national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday.com that Romania will participate at the forthcoming 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Austria next year.

Romania is the 27th  country to confirm its participation at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest. Romania joins United Kingdom, Georgia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, MontenegroBelarusLatvia, France, Greece,  FYR Macedonia, Austria, Cyprus, Malta, Switzerland, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Ireland, Germany, FinlandThe Netherlands, Lithuania, Belgium, Portugal, Azerbaijan and Estonia  in the list of countries which will join the 2015 Eurovision party in Austria next year .

The method and mechanism TVR will opt in order to select the 2015 Romanian entry and representative is yet to be determined. More details regarding the 2015 Romanian Eurovision project will be released in due course.

In 2014 Romania selected its Eurovision entry and act via a national final. Paula Seling and Ovi won the golden ticket to Copenhagen with their entry Miracle, and achieved a 12th place in the grand final.

Romania debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 with Dan Bittman and is yet to win the event. Romania’s highest placing at the Eurovision Song Contest has been a 3rd placing in 2005 with Luminita Anghel’s Let me try and in 2010 with Ovi and Paula Seling‘s Playing with fire.

The official list of the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest participants is expected to be released by the EBU by early January. The deadline for countries to submit their application in order to compete at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest has been set on 15 September.

The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 19, 21, 23 May at the Wiener Stadthalle, in Vienna.
