LRT, the Lithuanian national broadcaster has confirmed that Lithuania will participate at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest. The Lithuanian broadcaster has announced their plans for Eurovision 2014 on their official website. LRT has yet again opted for a national selection to selects its Eurovision representative.
Last month esctoday.com had revealed that LRT and Lithuania would most likely participate at the Eurovision Song Contest, now it is confirmed that Lithuania will indeed compete in Copenhagen next May.
Artists and composers wishing to compete in the Lithuanian national selection can do so by submitting their application to the national broadcaster until November 15. You can find the rules and regulations on LRT’s official website here.
Andrius Pojavis represented Lithuania at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo with Something, achieving a 22nd place in the final.
Lithuania debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 and is yet to win the event. The country’s best placing at Europe’s favourite television show was in 2006 when LT United achieved a 6th placing in the Eurovision Song Contest final in Athens.
Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, France, Albania, Iceland, Ireland, San Marino, Georgia, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Estonia, Malta, Russia, Germany, Austria, FYR Macedonia, Montenegro, Belgium, Spain ,United Kingdom and Latvia, Lithuania have all confirmed their participation at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest next year in Denmark. Whilst Italy, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Hungary and Slovenia have said they will most likely be in the competition.
