Dutch superstar Ilse DeLange has publicly stated her willingness to assist broadcaster NPO with the Netherlands’ potential participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. The experienced artist, known for her successful past involvement with the contest, believes she can offer valuable insights and support. This comes as NPO deliberates on their presence at the upcoming competition.
Ilse DeLange Ready to Lend Expertise
Speaking to RTL Boulevard on Tuesday, Ilse DeLange confirmed that she is open to helping the Dutch delegation for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. When asked about supporting the national broadcaster NPO, DeLange confidently stated:
They have my number, so they can always call.
DeLange believes her extensive experience within the contest could be a significant asset, particularly concerning the artistic aspects and the overall preparation process. While acknowledging she isn’t fully aware of all the behind-the-scenes workings, she emphasised her knowledge of the creative journey:
I have no idea how all of that works behind the scenes and what is needed for it all, but I do know a lot about the artistic side of things and the process involved
A Eurovision Veteran
Ilse DeLange is a familiar face to Eurovision fans, having achieved significant success in the competition. In 2014, she represented the Netherlands as part of The Common Linnets alongside Waylon, securing an impressive second place with their entry, ‘Calm After the Storm‘.
Her involvement didn’t stop there; five years later, she played a crucial role in mentoring Duncan Laurence, who went on to win the 2019 contest in Tel Aviv with ‘Arcade’, bringing the trophy back to the Netherlands for the first time since 1975.
Despite her willingness to assist behind the scenes, DeLange has also kept the door open for a potential return to the Eurovision stage as a performer. She reiterated her longstanding philosophy, laughing as she said:
I always say: never say never, so I’m saying that again now.
Currently, the Netherlands’ participation in Eurovision 2027 remains undecided, with NPO yet to make a final announcement. However, with an offer of help from such a respected figure, the Dutch delegation certainly has a valuable resource at their disposal.
