Krista Siegfrids is enjoying her new role as judge and mentor on Finland’s new talent show, The Voice Kids.
This coming Sunday, Krista’s team will be performing a song very close to her heart Marry Me, her self-penned entry to this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
The three young members of Krista’s all-girl team, Bella Paasimäki, Hilla Pitkänen and Racquet Ikävalko, will sing Marry Me to win a place in the contest’s semi-finals. Krista herself will decide which one of her team members will proceed to the next round.
You can watch a preview of Sunday night’s show here.
Krista perhaps understands more than most the pressures of competing in the Voice. She herself was a contestant in the first series of the Voice Finland back in 2012. At her blind audition, Krista sang the AC/DC song, You shook me all night long. Each of the show’s four coaches wanted to represent and mentor Krista, but she decided to go with Finnish glam-rock star, Michael Monroe. Krista was eliminated at the first stage of the live rounds before the show’s semi-finals despite a powerful performance of the Erma Franklin classic Piece of my heart.
The singer tweeted about the forthcoming show: Hilla, Bella & Maila are singing “Marry Me” in the next #thevoicekids episode! They are so adorable and amazing! You have to watch it! But viewers will have to wait until Sunday to see which of her team members will make the semi-finals.
As well as working with young people on the Voice Kids, Krista recently announced her participation in a benefit concert organised by the Children’s Rights Association in Finland. The concert, which is to be held at the Barona Arena in Finland’s second city, Espoo, will raise funds for social projects involving the young.
