MTVA, the Hungarian national  broadcaster has informed esctoday.com that Szirtes Edina Mókus has withdrawn her entry fro A Dal, the 2013 Hungarina national selection.

The Hungarian broadcaster has revealed to esctoday.com that Szirte Edina Mokus’s song Ha virág lennékwas previously performed in a draft version at  various concerts before 1 September 2012 and therefore does not comply with the rules . After consulting  with Artisjus, the Hungarian copyright authority and with jury member Viktor Rakonczai, the artist has to decided to withdraw from the competition and expressed her deep regret in doing so.She will be replaced by Mónika Hoffmann with her song Hullócsillag(Falling Star), composed by Jonas Gladnikoff, Primoz Poglajen and Michael James Down, lyrics by Peti Puskás.

A total of 30 songs will compete at the 2013 Hungarian national selection A Dal, which will consist  of a total of 6 shows (3 heats, 2 semi-finals and the grand final). The heats are scheduled to be held on 2,9 and 16 February, whilst the semi-finals are scheduled for the 23 and 24 of February. The grand finale will take place on 2 March.

A total  of  10 songs will compete in each semifinal. The special jury will shorlist the songs from 10 to 4 in the grand final and the public will decide the winner via televoting.

Hungary debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 with Frederika Bayer, and is yet to win the event. The country’s best placing at the contest was when they debuted in 1994 with Frederika’s Kinek mondjam el vétkeimet?, placiyng 4th.
