After two years with internal selections, Turkey turns back to the national final concept. Turkish broadcaster TRT informed esctoday.com about their plans for the Eurovision Song Contest 2005.

Under the name TRT 2005 Eurovision Eurovision Sarki Yarismasi Seçmeleri, a national final will be organised to select the Turkish representative for next year's Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev.

An unexpected move by the Turkish broadcaster, who was very successful at the last two editions of the Eurovision Song Contest with artists that were selected internally. Sertab Erener won in 2003 with Everyway that I can and Athena reached the fourth place with For real this year in Istanbul.

All composers, authors, arrangers and performers who are citizens of Turkey are invited by TRT to take part in the contest. Songs can be submitted unil 29th November and should be written in Turkish.

A professional jury will listen to all songs and choose a maximum of 10 songs, to be performed at the national final, where not more than two songs per composer or performer will be allowed.

The national final will be held in Istanbul and a televote will decide who will represent Turkey at next year's Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev.
