Bulgaria is gearing up to host the Eurovision Song Contest in 2027, following Dara’s triumph in the 2026 edition. The nation’s Minister of Tourism, Ilin Dimitrov, is keen to leverage this significant event to boost the country’s Black Sea coast. He views the contest as an unparalleled opportunity to transform the region into a global stage, attracting international attention and tourism.

Bulgaria embraces Eurovision 2027 hosting opportunity

With Bulgaria set to host the Eurovision Song Contest in 2027, Minister of Tourism Ilin Dimitrov has expressed his enthusiasm for the event’s potential to elevate the country’s Black Sea coast.. Dimitrov acknowledges that the selection of Burgasl provides a tremendous opportunity to promote the entire Bulgarian Black Sea region on a global scale.

Minister Dimitrov believes that hosting Eurovision will provide the best possible start to the tourist season, showcasing Bulgaria’s natural beauty and hospitality to millions worldwide. To maximise this exposure, the Ministry of Tourism is actively preparing a comprehensive programme, which includes over 100 events designed to promote Bulgaria.

Learning from past host cities, Dimitrov notes that the organisers will avoid concentrating all activities in one location. Instead, events will be spread across multiple cities, including Plovdiv, Varna, Sofia, and Burgas, ensuring a broader regional benefit. He also addressed concerns regarding potential price increases for tourists, assuring that despite the expected influx, prices will remain competitive due to the vast availability of accommodation options along the coast.

Furthermore, the Ministry is actively working on improving transport and air connectivity, engaging in negotiations with major airlines to establish new routes and ensure their continuation beyond the Eurovision period. This strategic approach aims to create a lasting legacy for Bulgarian tourism, extending the positive impact of hosting the contest for years to come.

The Bulgarian Tourism Minister was interviewed on BNT’s Morning show where he shed more light on the impact of the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 on Bulgarian tourism and how the country is preparing for the event.

Ilin Dimitro says:

First, Eurovision will give us a chance to turn the Black Sea region into a world stage. The host city, and I am convinced, seeing how the mayor is approaching it, will do a great job. The state will help.

Bulgaria expects massive number of journalists to land in Burgas for the Eurovision Song Contest and the Ministry of Tourism is preparing a concise program.

Dimitrov goes on to add:

We will help with a very good accompanying program, where Bulgaria can show not only the host city, because last year I read a report in which the organizers themselves said that it is good for tourists to be able to see more of the host country, so they will be able to visit Varna, Burgas, and Sofia, wherever they will land at the airports. And our whole task is to show Bulgaria in its best form.
