Will Canada host the Eurovision Song Contest if it wins the compettion? This is one of the biggest questions amid the Eurovision fan fraternity since CBC/ Radio Canada and the EBU confirmed the country’s participation at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest 2027 in Bulgaria. ESCToday brings you an official statement from the EBU regarding this matter.

In the wake of the latest developments surrounding the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest 2027 and Canada’s debut in the competition next year, ESCToday has reached out to the EBU in order shed more light on what will happen in the event if Canada wins the contest, will it host the competition the following year? Or will a European nation co-host the contest with it?

Given the different time zones and continents in the event if Australia wins the event would be co-hosted in a European city. Let’s check out what did the EBU have to say regarding Canada:

The EBU gave ESCToday the following statement:

In the event of Canada winning the Eurovision Song Contest, the following year’s Contest would be hosted by CBC/Radio-Canada in Canada.

Hence we might be heading to Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Quebec or Vancouver for Eurovision if Canada wins the contest in the near future! Fancy hearing Good evening Europe, this is Toronto Calling!

Canada’s Eurovision connection

Many Canadians have competed at the Eurovision Song Contest in the past, but representing other countries, notably the most famous act has been Celine Dion who represented Switzerland at the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin with her epic entry ‘Ne partez pas sans moi‘ and went on to win the contest.
