The Bulgarian government has officially approved the Action Plan for the preparation and hosting of the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. This significant step follows the country’s victory in the 2026 contest with Dara’s ‘Bangaranga’, and the formation of an Organising Committee earlier this year to oversee the preparations.

Bulgaria takes a major step towards hosting Eurovision 2027

Following Bulgaria’s triumphant win at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with Dara’s hit song ‘Bangaranga’, the nation is now fully committed to hosting the prestigious event in 2027. The Bulgarian government has formally adopted the Action Plan, a crucial document outlining the comprehensive preparations required for staging the 71st edition of the contest.

The Action Plan was meticulously drawn up by the Organising Committee, which was established by the Council of Ministers earlier this year. This committee is tasked with coordinating all aspects of the preparations, ensuring a smooth and successful event. The approval of this plan signifies the government’s full backing and commitment to delivering a memorable Eurovision Song Contest.

As preparations move forward, attention now turns to the host city selection. Several Bulgarian cities have expressed keen interest in hosting Eurovision 2027, including Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, and Burgas. The national broadcaster, BNT, in conjunction with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), will evaluate these bids based on various criteria such as venue capacity, infrastructure, accommodation, and logistical capabilities.

BNT’s official press relase reads:

The government adopted the Action Plan for the preparation and hosting of the “Eurovision 2027” Song Contest, drawn up by the Organizing Committee responsible for running and coordinating the preparation and holding of the contest. The document sets out specific initiatives and tasks, deadlines for their implementation, the institutions responsible and the expected outcomes. With the adoption of the Action Plan, the government says it is ensuring timely and coordinated planning of the necessary activities, as well as institutional support and commitment for the successful hosting of the contest in Bulgaria.
