After a competitive national selection show, ‘Philippine Selection Night’ (Pili, Pinas!), the talented artist Carmelle has been chosen to represent the country. Her song, titled ‘Sobra-Sobra’, captured the hearts of the jury and public alike, securing her spot in the upcoming contest.
The ‘Philippine Selection Night’ final took place on 30 August 2026, featuring 10 competing artists. The winner was determined by a combination of Filipino jury votes (40%), Filipino public votes (40%), and an international public vote (20%). Carmelle’s victory with ‘Sobra-Sobra’, written by Nica del Rosario and Mat Olavides, sets the stage for a compelling performance in Bangkok.
Eurovision Song Contest Asia Set for Bangkok
The inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 14 November 2026, in Bangkok, Thailand. This historic event marks the first large-scale adaptation of the Eurovision format outside of Europe, aiming to unite Asia through music.
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU), in partnership with Voxovation and S2O Productions, is organising the contest, which will see at least ten countries from across Asia compete. The Philippines, represented by ABS-CBN, is among the confirmed participants, alongside nations such as South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan.
