The beautful Swiss city of Basel is rooting to host the 2025 Song Contest next year in Switzerland.

After Geneva and Zurich the next city to showcase its interest in welcoming the Eurovision bandwagon is none other than Basel.

Basel Government spokesperson Marco Greiner says:

Basel is ready! It would be great and honorable if Basel could host the next edition of this globally popular singing competition for Switzerland.

Basel District President Conradin Cramer is also very keen to bring the Eurovision Song Contest to Basel and is confident that his city has the infrastructure, hospitality and accessibility to accomplish this.

Conradin Cramer gave the following statement via his official X account:

Congratulations to Nemo on his great win at #ESC2024 in Malmö! Now Switzerland will host the #ESC2025. #Basel is an excellent venue. And we are ready: with our infrastructure, accessibility and hospitality. #ESC2025Basel.

If Basel were to officially submit a bid to host the event it could very well hold the competition at the St. Jakobshalle. The venue can accomodate circa 12,000 spectators. The St. Jakobshalle consists of the main Arena and Halls 1,2,3,4 and 5 which can easily host the Delegation Bubble, Press Centre etc.

The Jakobshalle released the following statement after Nemo’s epic victory in Malmo:

Congratulations to Nemo on his well-deserved victory at the Eurovision Song Contest! The entire nation is proud.

Switzerland, we are ready for the ESC 2025! For the third time in history, our country will host. The St. Jakobshalle Basel, with its 20,000 square meters and the arena that can accommodate 12,400 people, is ideal as a venue. Due to the strategically favorable location at the border triangle and the public transport connections, we are the right choice to host this event.

Nothing has been decided yet but we are ready to pull out all the stops to bring the ESC to Basel! Keep your fingers crossed for us!

 

 

 

Basel is well known for holding large scale trade fairs. The city has an excellent transport system and lies at the crossroads of three countries Germany, France and Switzerland. The city is served by the Europort Basel Mulhouse Freiburg. Basel is a 1 hour ride away from Zurich International Airport.
