Sweden’s national broadcaster, SVT, has announced a record-breaking number of song submissions for Melodifestivalen 2027, their national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. A staggering 4,077 entries were received during the submission window, which closed on 11 September 2026.

The submission period for Melodifestivalen 2027, Sweden’s beloved national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, has officially concluded, with Swedish broadcaster SVT confirming an all-time high of 4,077 submitted songs. This impressive figure surpasses last year’s record of 3,888 submissions, underscoring the enduring popularity and significance of the competition within Sweden and beyond.

The submission window was open from 21 August to 11 September 2026, allowing songwriters and composers to put forward their entries for consideration. Now, a dedicated jury from the music industry faces the challenging task of sifting through these thousands of proposals to select approximately 30 songs that will compete in the televised shows.
Melodifestivalen 2027 is set to be hosted by the familiar faces of Björn Kjellman and Oscar Zia. The competition will span a six-week period, featuring five semi-finals and a grand final. The shows are scheduled to run weekly from 6 February to 13 March 2027. Fans can anticipate the announcement of the selected artists and their song titles during November and December 2026. With such a vast pool of talent, the road to becoming Sweden’s representative at Eurovision 2027 promises to be highly competitive and exciting.
