Yes! We’re now done with the first set of revelations from Cyprus and we now know who are the ones that have penned the song that will fly to Tel Aviv in May; and perhaps a few things more!
CyBC’s clues in a timeline
Alex Papaconstantinou is back!
The first two quizzes of the island’s national broadcaster on Facebook, featuring successful international hits of the past, as well as a picture that was posted a couple of days ago that featured the general director of the national broadcaster CyBC Michalis Maratheftis, the Cypriot Head of Delegation Evi Papamichael and the Greek-Swedish musician Alex Papaconstantinou had been pretty enough for the fans to predict the composing team of the Cypriot 2019 Eurovision entry. However, the broadcaster quickly confirmed the names of the 5 composers that are behind the music and the song’s lyrics.
Their full of success collaboration in 2018 gave the green light for one more course this year: Alex Papaconstantinou will be once again the main composer and producer of the song, joined by his close associates Teddy Sky, Albin Nedler, Kristofer Fogelmark and Viktor Svensson.

Sacha Jean-Baptiste again in the game
Then, the broadcaster kept its promise for more clues and hints, by posting a video that challenged us to guess the choreographer of their team, since their comment was “it’s all about staging… #meetTeamCY“.

This video belongs to the Swedish artist and former contestant of the country’s Idol, Darin. His choreography, that was edited by Sacha Jean-Baptiste, was able to make us understand that CyBC will re-trust the internationally renowned choreographer for the stage presence of the island’s entrant at Tel Aviv’s Eurovision edition.
Is it Re…play?
But the most exciting is yet to come! A few minutes earlier, the broadcaster changed its cover picture on Facebook, with quite an interesting element that could easily refer to Alex Papaconstantinou’s song title. The writing style of the word “RED”, with the letter “D” refering to the word “Play”, is potentially a sign that Cyprus will fly to Israel with… Replay!

The die is cast in Cyprus and the final announcements of the broadcaster for their participation in Eurovision 2019 seem to be now around the corner. Who will represent the nation? And what does the person with the leather jacket in the picture want to tell us? Feel free to share your thoughts!
Cyprus at Eurovision 2018
Last January, the popular Greek artist Eleni Foureira was internally selected by the Cypriot broadcaster CyBC to represent the nation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, with the dance pop song Fuego, penned by the highly-acclaimed Swedish-Greek composer Alex Papaconstantinou and his team, consisting of Geraldo Sandell, Viktor Svensson, Anderz Wrethov and Didrick.
Following the rehearsals’ beginning in Lisbon, Eleni had been highly tipped as the hot favourite for the victory at the Grand Final, bringing Cyprus closer than ever to their first Eurovision trophy. Eventually, after progessing to the final, she came 2nd with a total of 436 points. This is the best result for the island of Aphrodite in the contest, since their debut in 1981.
The 64th Eurovision Song Contest will be taking place on 14, 16 and 18 May at the EXPO Convention Center in Tel Aviv, Israel. The event will be organized and presented by the Israeli national broadcaster KAN and the EBU.
