The European Broadcasting Union has approved the IPBC/KAN’s application for full EBU membership at the 81st EBU General Assembly in Geneva earlier today.
The Israeli national broadcaster , IPBC/KAN, was launched on the 15 May 2017 following the shutdown of the former Israeli national broadcaster IBA.
KAN competed at the Eurovision Song Contest for the very first time in 2018 and ended up winning the competition with Netta‘s Toy. Hence the Israeli national broadcaster will host the forthcoming 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv next May.
KAN has three television channels currently: KAN 11, KAN Educational and Makan 33.
IPBC/KAN applied to join the EBU in 2017 and was accepted as an interim member pending approval of a full membership status. The broadcaster’s full EBU membership has now been approved by the EBU.
The EBU’s General Assembly approved IPBC’s full membership ealier today in Geneva, Switzerland.

The 2019 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 14, 16 and 18 May at the Expo Tel Aviv Convention Centre in Tel Aviv, Israel.
