Azerbaijan: Aisel’s Eurovision entry’s premiere date set: 4 March

The 2018 Azeri Eurovision entry will be premiered on Sunday 4 March. Azerbaijan and Ictimai are working round the clock in order to showase an extraordinary performance when Aisel takes the Eurovision stage next May.

Save the date! Aisel‘s Eurovision entry will be premiered this weekend, on Sunday 4 March. The official videoclip of Aisel’s Eurovision song was filmed in the iconic city of Athens. The Azerbaijani hopeful travelled to Greece in order to film the videoclip.

The story behind Aisel’s song

On the 8 November 2017 it was announced that Aisel will be representing Azerbaijan at the Eurovision Song Contest.

From that day till the beginning of February the beautiful singer traveled to several countries around Europe, recording demos of potential entries. From songs in her native language with ethnic elements, to jazz and mainstream pop songs.

Working closely with music experts from her country and abroad, Aisel narrowed down the songs to the three she liked best.

After that a focus group of 300 people from 31 countries around Europe took over. None of the people participating in the procedure knew the singer or the purpose of the songs, they just had to like or dislike the three tracks.

The winning song, that had an impressive 87% of likes, and this is the entry that will represent Azerbaijan at the forthcoming 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon. Aisel’s Eurovision entry  is set to be released ‪on at 12:00 CET on Sunday 4 March.

Aisel was selected via an internal election by Azerbaijani national broadcaster, Ictimai, in order to represent the Land of fire aka Azerbaijan at the forthcoming 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon.

Born in 1989, the 2018 Azerbaijani Eurovision hopeful  began her musical career at a very tender age and over the past few years has performed various musical styles, with jazz being her favorite style. Last year saw the beautiful Azerbaijani take the 2018 at Zhara Fest stage, one of the most important music festivals in Azerbaijan, where she got the chance to perform along with former Eurovision acts.

Azerbaijan debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 and has won the competition in 2011 with Ell and Nikki’s Running scared. The country successfully hosted the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Baku.
