Rumours spread around the web regarding plans of the Moldovan broadcaster TRM to skip the national selection O melodie pentru Europa and select its artist internally for Eurovision 2017. TRM has published details about the rules and mechanism of choosing their entry for the upcoming  contest; the final of O melodie pentru Europa will be held on 25 February.

The deadline to submit entries is 18 January at 17:00 local time. Entries can be submitted by post to TRM’s offices in Chișinău or online via email to [email protected]. The authors and composers may hold any nationality, however the artist must hold a Moldovan citizenship (or at least 50% in case of duets/groups).

The submitted entries which meet the requirements and the selection’s rules will be invited to live auditions which will be held on 21 January. A jury will decide on maximum 14 entries that will participate in the televised semifinal of O melodie pentru Europa which will be held on 24 February. A total of eight songs will advance to the final on 25 February; four will be chosen by an expert jury and four by televotes. The winner will be decided by 50% jury votes and 50% televotes.

In case of insufficient number of participating entries, TRM reserves the right to skip the semifinal stage and hold a final round directly on 25 February.

The complete rules and regulations of O melodie pentru Europa 2017 can be found on TRM’s website (in Romanian).
