LRT,  the Lithuanian national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that Lithuania intends to participate at the upcoming 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Israel.

Hence Lithuania joins Serbia, Malta, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Latvia, Belgium, Germany, Cyprus and France in the list of countries who intend to compete at the forthcoming Eurovision edition.

The Lithuanian broadcaster is yet to officially reveal its plan of action for Eurovision 2019, it is highly likely that the country will stick to its traditional national selection in order to select its Eurovision act and entry for Israel.

Lithuania in Eurovision

Lithuania debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 and is yet to win our beloved contest. The country achieved its best Eurovision result in 2006 when LT United placed 6th with their song  We are the winners in Athens.

The Baltic country has only made it twice on the top 10 of the Eurovision leader board since it joined the competition, namely in 2006 (LT United) and 2016 (Donny Montell).

In 2018 Ieva Zasimauskaitė was crowned the winner of the Lithuanian national selection and flew to Lisbon with her romantic ballad When we’re old, achieving a 12th place in the Grand Final.
