Latvia: Sinplus and Aisha guests at Dziesma 2014 semi-finals

Sinplus, the 2012 Swiss Eurovision representatives and Aisha (Latvia 2010) have been invited to perform at the 2014 Latvian Eurovision national selection-Dziesma 2014. They will be treating the Latvian audience with the best of their music during both the Dziesma 2014 semi-finals on 1 and 2 February.

A total of 12 songs will be selected next wekend during the forthcoming Latvian Eurovision 2014- Dziesma semi-finals scheduled to be held at the Palladium in Riga. A total of 24 entries will be bidding to represent Latvia at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest. 12 entries will compete in each semi-final. The top 6 entries from each semi-final will proceed to the grand final after a jury/public televoting deliberation. The 2014 Latvian national final is scheduled to be held in Ventspils on Saturday 22 February.

The creative team of Dziesma 2014 has worked very hard and put great effort in order to provide a diverse and entertaining show next weekend. A grand line up of guests have been invited to perform on stage during the semi-finals. On  1 February Dzelzs vilks,Gapoljer, The Dimants Sisters, Pikaso and Jānis Lipšāns have been invited as special guests to perform at Dziesma semi-final 1. The following day on 2 February  Champions of World Choir Games 2012 Latvian Voices, Aija Andrejeva (Aisha– Latvia 2010),Headline and Sõla, the winners of Clashes of Choirs at Latvian Song and Dance Festival 2013 have been invited to perform at Dziesma semi-final 2. The 2012 Swiss representatives Sinplus will be flying specially to Riga to perform at both the semi-final shows on 1 and 2 February. Sinplus represented Switzerland at the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Baku with their entry Unbrekable.

The hosts of the semi finals are Nauris Brikmanis and Ēriks Loks. The theme of the contest this year is Made in Latvia since all the songs are penned by Latvian authors.

The running order of the songs is available at www.eirovizija.lv. Dziesma 2014 will be aired live on LTV 1 and a webstream will be available on the  LTV’s official website.

Dziesma 2014 has been organized by LTV in cooperation with Ventspils town, a loyal supporter  for Latvian Eurovision activities for the past 14 years.

Latvia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2000 with Brainstorm and has won the contest in 2002 with Marie N‘s I wanna, giving the country the chance  to successfully host the contest in 2003 in Riga.
