Birgit Õigemeel has been nominated for three Estonian Music Awards 2014.

The singer, who represented her native Estonia at last year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, was nominated by a 150-strong jury in the categories of Best Female Artist, Best Pop Album (for the 2013 release, Uus Algus) and Best Song (for her 2013 Eurovision entry, Et uus saaks alguse).

Now in its sixteenth year, the Estonian Music Awards Gala Concert will be held on Thursday, 30 January, and broadcast on Estonia’s TV3 television channel. The awards recognise current Estonian musicians, and both nominees and winners are selected by a jury of 150 music-industry professionals.  Among last years winners was Ott Lepland, who represented Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. He won in the categories Best Male Artist and Best Pop Album (for Öö mu kannul käib). The event is supported by the Estonian Ministry of Culture.

Birgit won Eesti Laul 2013, narrowly beating Grete Paia into second place. Her song, Et uus saaks alguse, finished in 20th position at the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2013, having received 19 points.
