Those Germans!! Again we were to see them embrace the 70’s with the same enthusiasm and joie de vivre we had come to expect of them. Their entry Dschinghis Khan by the self styled group of the same name, with Yul Brynner on back up duties, resembled something of the bastard son of Boney M and Liza Minnelli on a bad night at Studio 54. Despite glorifying a mad man who had committed mass genocide in the holy city of Jerusalem, the Eurovision audiences nevertheless took it all in good humour and awarded them with 86 points putting them in 4th place. All’s well that ends well.
