The 1978 contest would see Israel take the crown for the first time since their debut in 1973. They took disco and forced the Eurovision viewers to sit up and take notice with their entry A Ba Na Bi performed by Izhar Cohen and the Alpha Beta. The disco revolution had arrived, that coupled together with Izhar’s big Afro hair, their flared trousers, Farrah Fawcett flicks and a revolutionary sound, assured Isreal their place in Eurovision history.
